Building a Jodel

Getting Started

Below is some useful information and links to help support your Jodel project.

The Light Aircraft Association

The LAA oversees all engineer services, permit and inspections for homebuild aircraft.

If you’re thinking of building a Jodel then this is your first point of call. You will need to register your project and be a Plus member before your permit to fly can be issued

Or if you’re looking for help with permits and inspections, the LAA can direct you to the right resources

Jodel Builders Networks

Advice can be sought from the experienced builders on the International Jodel Forum where there are also archive files. You will need to get a Groups.IO login to post and to view the files but you can view the conversations without logging in.

Can you help support those building or restoring a Jodel? Perhaps you have successfully built or restored one yourself, or you’re an Inspector or Engineer that has experience with the type? Or perhaps you’re stuck and need help!

D112 Video – Flight Parameters Study

Video showing flight parameters study conducted as a result of an air accident investigation by ONERA (French Aerospace Lab)

“Two serious accidents having occurred on the Jodel D 112 aircraft, Onera was tasked with discovering the malfunction affecting the ailerons of this touring plane, a malfunction which consists of aeroelastic flutter of the wing. After laboratory and wind tunnel tests, the origin of the problem was found: it was a tensioner, responsible for operating the ailerons, which unscrewed under the effect of vibrations, thus causing flutter.”
